You know when you have a craving for something, but you don’t want to take the time to make it? That’s how this recipe was born. I was craving apple pie but didn’t want to go to the trouble of making the crust, slicing the apples, waiting for it to bake, etc, etc. Instead, I grabbed a can of apple pie filling from my pantry and went to work creating something that was quick & easy and would satisfy my craving. The result was this oh-so-good Apple Pie Dip!
Ingredients:
- Cream cheese – A recipe with cream cheese is pretty much perfect in my book. You can use low-fat or regular, whichever you prefer
- Vanilla yogurt – The yogurt adds just enough sweetness and makes the dip super creamy
- Apple pie spice – You can use a jar of pre-mixed apple pie spice or make your own by mixing 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and 1/8 tsp allspice
- Apple pie filling – This is the secret ingredient in this dip. The apples are already cooked and seasoned perfectly so you don’t need to spend time peeling and chopping. Just reserve 6-8 slices of apple from the can and dice them for the garnish. The remaining pie filling is pureed so that it packs a punch of delicious apple flavor when added to the cream cheese and yogurt mixture. Tip: look for apple pie filling at the dollar store. It tastes great and is cheaper than buying it in the grocery stores
This Apple Pie Dip comes together so fast. Just mix the cream cheese, vanilla yogurt, and apple pie spice together. Puree the can of apple pie filling (don’t forget to reserve 6-8 apple slices for the garnish) then stir the pureed apples into the cream cheese mixture and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Before serving, garnish with the diced apple slices.
You can serve this delicious Apple Pie Dip with sliced apples or pears if you want to stay a little more on the healthy side. Or throw caution to the wind and serve it with ginger snaps, graham crackers, or vanilla wafers. You could even eat it with pretzels if you want a salty/sweet combination. Or, just take a spoon and dig in. I won’t tell anyone!
Ingredients
- 1 8oz block of cream cheese, softened
