If you’re like me, you’ve fallen in love with the beautiful charcuterie boards that are all over Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook these days. Whether you call them charcuterie boards, nosh boards, or snack boards some of them are true works of art and all of them look like they cost a small fortune to put together. I wanted to try my hand at one for a fall gathering but knew I couldn’t spend much on it. So, I did what any frugal girl would do and headed to my local dollar stores where I was able to find everything I needed to put together my own Dollar Store Fall Charcuterie Board.
The Serving Board
The first step in putting together a charcuterie board is to decide what you are going to serve it on. I ended up using a fall inspired serving tray that I picked up on clearance at Wal-mart years ago. You can also use a wooden cutting board or large serving platter that you already own or purchase a new one from Amazon or at discount stores such as Marshall’s or Home Goods. Please make sure you choose a serving platter that is “food-safe”. For additional serving items, be sure to check out the fun selections at the dollar stores. I found this cute leaf shaped bowl at Dollar Tree.
Snacks
Next, you’ll need to decide which snacks you’ll want to serve. For a truly frugal board, check out the selections at the dollar stores. My go-to dollar stores are Dollar Tree and the 99 Cent Only Store. They both carry a wide variety of snacks and most stores now have a refrigerator and freezer section for perishable items. The 99 Cent Only Store also carries a nice selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.
I decided to use a combination of sweet and salty items for my charcuterie board. There were almost too many choices so I narrowed it down to 10 items along with Kristen’s Apple Pie Dip.

- Sliced apples (99 Cent Only Store)

Arranging
The final step is to have fun arranging your board. You can place items randomly, line up the cookies in a row, pile the salty items together in one area and the sweet items together in another. The choice is yours! You can arrange and re-arrange until you get everything look as nice as those images you see floating around social media.
Since I wanted to stick to a dollar store theme and not everyone has access to fruit at their dollar store, I decided to also make a board with items that you can only find at Dollar Tree. It turned out just as nice and I was able to add extra servings of the items that I knew would disappear quickly.
Have you gotten in on the charcuterie/nosh board craze yet? What are some of your favorite items to serve?

Pretty board but you need to make sure you’re using a “good-safe” board!
Such a smart idea to get snacks at the dollar store! I’m in charge of bringing an appetizer to a Halloween party this month and I was at a total loss until I heard about these snack boards. My budget is pretty slim since we just got our floors refinished, so I’m glad I found your tips on how to make do!
